Payroll

Running Ghana payroll the right way

5 min read·Updated 5/14/2026

Izzi Manager handles Ghana payroll out of the box. Here's how each piece works.

Earnings → Gross

Basic salary + allowances = gross. You can add as many custom allowances as you want (transport, food, rent, phone, etc.). Each can be taxable or non-taxable.

SSNIT (Social Security)

We deduct 5.5% from the employee's gross (Tier 1 employee portion) and your business pays 13% on top (Tier 1 employer portion). Tier 2 — the mandatory provident fund — adds another 5% from the employer side. Tier 3 voluntary contributions are configurable per employee, up to 16.5% which is fully tax-deductible.

PAYE (Income tax)

We calculate PAYE using the 2025 GRA monthly bands: - First ₵490: 0% - Next ₵110: 5% - Next ₵130: 10% - Next ₵3,166.67: 17.5% - Next ₵16,000: 25% - Next ₵30,520: 30% - Above: 35%

The bands update each year after the Budget Statement. You don't need to do anything — we push the new rates.

Pay date

When you mark a run as PAID, we file the journals automatically. Each employee gets an emailed payslip PDF with a full breakdown.
